Know more about Press Forming

Many times I wondered how industrialists make such complex metal structured that are not possible by human hands. Fortunately I come to know about the magic behind the manufacturing of these complex structures. The technique used to reshape the metal is known as Press Forming. A hydraulic press machine is used to generate the compressive force. This machine is able to compress almost anything using hydraulic pressure. Hydraulic press is replacing mechanical press all over as a mechanical press can only develop full force at close to bottom of stroke whereas a hydraulic press has the ability to deliver full pressing force anywhere in the range of stroke. This considerably improves the overall performance of a hydraulic press.

The process of press forming is supposed to be highly effective and changing the face of human machinery forever. This technique is used on a very large scale to meet the ever growing demand from today’s industry. There are several benefits of using this technique as it generates hundreds of tons of pressure for efficient high-volume production. . Among many advantages the best thing about it include customization, flexibility, dedicated or multi-functionality, lower up-front costs / fast ROI, no design limitations, over-pressure protection, unlimited control options, condensed footprint and high accuracy.

How galvanized steel sheet is manufactured?

The manufacturing of galvanized steel sheet is done by using a process in which steel is processed to keep it safe from the effects of corrosion. It is typically beneficial to galvanize the steel in cases where it I required to resist rust.

A very thin layer of zinc is coated upon the steel to form a coating over the iron element. This coating is a result of chemical reaction over the surface. You will be surprised to know that this coating is able to last as long as forty years. The best thing about galvanized steel sheet is that it works well in extreme cold or moist conditions due to the coating on its surface. Although this coating is not thick, the galvanizing is so protective of the steel sheets beneath it, that it can bear small nicks and scratch to the zinc coating, while still protecting the steel underneath.

There are numerous things that can be done to galvanized steel, however, when welding, we must be careful. The zinc fumes created by the welding process can have a detrimental effect on one’s health. Although there is no convincing proof, there is reason to suspect it can be harmful to the environment as well.
